As a recruiter, I work for the company that has hired me to conduct a search for prospective candidates. As a candidate, what you can expect from me is confidentiality. I will not disclosed anything that you have ask me to keep confidential as long as it does not interfere with my ability to do my job. Nor will I make any claims about your background that I know are not true. If your background matches an opening, I will present your resume to the company and attempt to set up an interview.
In return, I expect you not to disclose any informatin about the company, position or
location of any job openings we discuss to anyone. Also, no information about the interview
process or the people conducting the interview should be discussed with anyone
but me.
Should you decide that you are not interested in a position we discussed, you may pass my contact information on to someone and tell them that I have a position that they may be interested in. It is best that this person contact me for infomation on the position since they may have questions that only I would be able to answer.
As someone seeking a position in the workplace, there are basic things that you can do to help yourself obtain the position you desire. The following list is meant to aid candidates in their job search and is the minimum I expect from candidates that have asked me to help them secure a position with one of my clients.
Resumes should be up-to-date, factual and include your education, work history, skills and salary. Companies conduct background and reference checks. These searches have been know to reveal information left out of resumes and the result is often an end to the interview process. Resumes vary in format and content and while one style does not fit all, a sample resume if provide on this page.
Contact information, phone numbers and e-mail addresses. Respond to calls and e-mails in a timely manner. You could be getting a phone call from your next employer, therefore, your answering machine and voice message recordings may need to be re-recorded to present a more formal greeting.
Notify me immediately of any changes to your employment status, contact information, place of residence, etc.
Phone interviews should be done on a land line whenever possible and without interruption or noise in the background.
Research on the company and job location should be done prior to submitting your resume. The interview process is time consuming and costly for a company. If the company and/or the location is not where you would like to work or live, do not submit your resume. Consideration should be given if someone else is involved in the move and relocation requires their being able to find employment at the new location.
Prepare for the interview. Tips for preparing for an interview can be found at TIPS.
